Thibodeau 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 How do you know how much deer hair to spin at a time? and how hard do you pack the hair on the hook? I know what works for me but I'm interested to know what works for you. This could help me improve on my bombers.
salmosalar 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 Don't pack your hair to tied. A guide is using deer hair the size of a pencil for each spin. Good luck, Jacques
JarrodRuggles 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 the main thing is packing it ....hard enough so that you cant see thread when you trim the body You can experiment with threads, some hair also spins better then others. But as he said, generally you spin about a pencils thickness everytime unless your doing like a small irrestible. Jarrod

salmosalar 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2005 Well, Here is how to tie a Carter Bug: http://www.salmonflies.com/carters.htm It is the ugliest Bomber but the most effective one. I've caught salmon on the Miramichi, Restigouche and Gaspésie with this Carter Bug. Jacques
