Hi Guys. On Penns creek in Pennsylvania ,what size BWO will most likely be coming off this holiday week end (6/1 ) . Also will that be a olive green or a rutty brown olive. People have told me to watch (olives and sulphers) as much as drakes.When fishing the drake hatch should I fish the nymph,emeger or dun, as you can tell I never fished the hatch before. .Straighten Leaders Easily Curling leaders are a pain but easy to get rid of, with simple techniques. Tuck a piece of rubber glove, or an eraser with a slit cut in it in your fly vest. Pull the leader, gently, through the slit in the eraser, or the piece of rubber glove pinched lightly between your fingers, and bingo, a straight leader. But gently does it, too fast or too hard, and you will heat up the leader and lower its breaking strain John

Carrying Insect Repellent Here's a convenient way to carry and apply bug dope: saturate a square of cloth about the size of a handkerchief with repellent, fold it to fit a pocket, and place it in a sealed Zip-Loc bag so it can't evaporate. I found some small black beads in a craft shop. I took some braided mono fly backing line and melted the end into a narrow strand so that I could thread on the beads.After threading on some beads, I dabbed a spot of 5 minute epoxy below each bead and slid the bead over the epoxy. By spacing the beads carefully, you can end up with matched pairs of eyes for shrimp or pairs of eyes with stalks for crabs. John

I really like how these eyes turn out, because the color inside of the epoxy really becomes magnified, especially if you use paint, or markers with a little flash in them. The eyes can either be cut in half or tied on in one piece. I really like the flexibility of making my own eyes compared to buying standard sizes. John

I don't think it matters on smallheads on streamers. on large heads on bass bugs, i think it matters . I think they look better. John
