Mark Knapp 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2019 Went pike fishing yesterday after work. I speared two, jigged for four and got one on a tip up. Lots of fun. The biggest is 7 pounds and the smallest we kept was 2 1/2 pounds.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2019 I've always heard that Pike were boney. I know their relative, Pickerel, are, with little "y" bones. How do you process those Pike for eating, Mark?
Mark Knapp 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2019 Hi Mike, Some people don't like them because they're bony, just like their cousins. I can fillet the "Y" bones out but I think it wastes a lot of meat in the "Y" of the bone. I prefer to just leave bones in and pick them out while I eat. For people that don't like the bones I fillet them out or give them the back half. There's no bones in the back half. We like to pickle them too.
