rear hackle - grizzly

thorax - dubbing tan

Why not tie the whole fly with brown thread instead of using two different colors? Isn't that a tad wasteful?

Please show me where the waste is. Danville flat wax is pretty wide thread; while it works okay for the body, it'd be a bit bulky for the rest of the fly. Using Danville 6/0 for the entire fly wouldn't achieve the somewhat glossy effect I wanted for on the abdomen (original pattern called for brown floss, of which I have none; flat wax provided an acceptable sub) - it would also have taken a lot more wraps of the thinner thread to achieve the shape/size I was looking for; that would have been wasteful.

Regards,

Scott
