Taxon 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2010 bad fish rising- Your caddisfly larva appears (to me) to be of either family Brachycentridae (Humpless Casemaker), or family Leipdostomatidae (Lepidostomatid Casemaker). I will alert Ethan Bright to your posting, as he will likely be able to identify it more precisely.

Ethan Bright 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 had this cased caddis on the end of my hook today when i reeled in funny thing was i was using a cased caddis pattern because our friend had caught a steelhead full of them can anybody identify it Sorry for the delay in responding... Looks like a species of Brachycentrus (Trichoptera: Brachycentridae). Larvae often suspend their cases into the current, from which they filter feed (using fine setae on the forelegs) course- and fine-particulate organic matter.
