Matching Old Rod Wts to the New Standard

Recommended Posts

Anyone well shy of 60 YOA might want to give this a skip.

Last weekend I was sorting through some old rods dating from the 50s and 60s that had rod weights marked in the old style You remember...HDH,HCF, etc. So much has changed in the intervening years -- particularly the trend towards llighter, faster action, rods handling heavier lines -- that I had a hard time establising equivalent needs for new contemprorary lines to use on these rods. Rod weights that were once used are almost meaningless as clues to correct line weights.

A rough rule of thumb would be a starting point. But I lost the scale I once had.

Thanks for any help,

Rocco

Geezers sometimes do not see the forrest for the trees... Asking Google was such an obvious fix it totally escaped me! Thanks,
