SBPatt 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2015 Combination stacker/traditional hackle makes for a cool fly; lots of steps but nothing difficult. Tied here a green drake; change colors to suit your needs. hook - Dai Riki 300 #10 thread - danville 6/0 olive tail - moose body rib - Uni-stretch brown hackle loop - Flat-wax nylon olive abdomen/thorax - dubbing olive wing - hen hackle tips dun hackle - grizzly dyed olive mash barb, start thread clean, stack, measure (1 1/2 times shank) some moose body; tie in trim butts, cover with thread; tie in rib and wrap to base of tail dub thread, dub abdomen to 60% mark counterwrap rib; tie off/trim tie in loop & hackle wrap hackle up/down; tie off at base take a pair of hen hackle tips (= to gap width), put them together with the tips curving away from each other, measure for length (entire hook - green drakes have long wings); tie in directly in front of hackle trim butts, smooth with thread; pull wings up/back, wrap in front and between to set the proper angle dub thorax (leave room for front hackle) pull hackle forward between wings (forgot to stroke the fibers back before I tied in the wings); tie off/trim tie in hackle wrap hackle, tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN Regards, Scott Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
