flytire 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2011 did you use a micrometer to measure the actual diameter of the ultra wire?
rich5665 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2011 did you use a micrometer to measure the actual diameter of the ultra wire? The sizes were pulled from a site that sells bulk copper wire. I was looking for Bulk copper in 28 gauge and found the chart on their site. I was going to post a complete list, but I'm not sure if any one uses wire larger than 28. I went to the Waspi Site as well for the Gauge size of their x-small then crossed referenced that. Then I cross referenced that with Brown and Sharp Wire Gauge Standard. I did correct the Ultra after realizing I read the wrong line on the chart.
FishDragon 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2011 You should put up all the sizes you know of and than get someone to sticky this.
Johny Utah 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2011 Go on ebay and type in "magnet wire" that is "fly tying" wire. You can get bulk spools for cheap. Although they dont have the fancy colors, but they do have copper, red, and green.
