jd1983 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2015 Got out to a local river for a couple hours this afternoon. I've decided to focus on fishing streamers for the time being and threw some slump busters with the 7 wt. It was more of an exercise in throwing heavier flies but I managed to snag my first brown trout with a slumpbuster. I also put on a modified slumpbuster style fly that was kind of special. My son "designed" it by telling me what he wanted on it. The fly has krystal flash, a body of gold diamond braid abd green flat tinsel, a back and tail of olive pine squirrel, two pairs of brown barred rubber legs, and a collar of red maribou and olive pine squirrel. Ended up catching a little rainbow on it after about 2 casts with it. My guess is both of these fish were recent stockers but still fun none the less.
