Wow! I wish the colors down here in Texas got anywhere close to those pictures. Those are some amazing photos

I just got my first copy of South West Fly Fishing in the mail. there are some great articles in it! The one I enjoyed the most was the one on the Durango and Silverton Narrow-gauge railway. This is a train ride I took growing up almost every summer while my family would vacation in lower Colorado. Now I want to go back and fish it! What other magazines do yall like that relate to fly fishing?

Suggestions for a Good Fly Tying Desk?
philipmadamson replied to flywife's topic in The Fly Tying Bench
When I get a wife I hope she is like you. -
Its a joy opening up your post and seeing what you have tied.

I personally like the black and yellow combo, very nice for your first one.

I like your patterns, Do you draft out your pattern ideas on paper before you try to tie them or do you just have an idea and go straight to the hook?
-

Ethan Bright..... I live in texas, but my girlfriend goes to U of M. I come up there every now and then to visit her, are there any good sports for through the rod around the area. It would have to be within 20 min of the Ann Arbor or she would not be up to it seeing as how she doesnt like fishing.

awesome advice, thanks

Nobody has any suggestions? Ps. I have a hard time waiting for people to respond...I think that might be why when I fish I am moving around a lot.

Everyone knows this year to bet against the Aggies. What is sad is that this is my last year to watch football as a student and this is my last impression.

Howdy, I am looking for a basic book on insects. I really know nothing at all about them and would like to learn more so that I can apply it while I am fishing. Call me a beginner, I am, but if you were to lay out a couple of insects and tell me to point out say, a mayfly, I am pretty sure I could not do it. Same with a lot of them. Any thoughts about good basic books please let me know. Also, I am a college student, I work so I have a little money, but not a ton, so price is a BIG deal. thanks

2007 FTOTY Contest - This needs to be said.
philipmadamson replied to carlp5351's topic in The Fly Tying Bench
I just spend 45 minutes tying a dry fly that I came up with for fishing and would like to enter in the contest, It catches fish, but when I tie them for fishing they usually take 5-10 minutes. I perfected my fly in the 45 minutes as well as learned a lot about where my skills have improved too. Thanks for providing a contest that makes everyone better -
very nice!, thanks

Since I found them, they are the only people I buy from, unless I run across some little fly shop on my trips. -
Danvise Rotary fly tying vise: Any comments
philipmadamson replied to cwenbass's topic in The Fly Tying Bench
I love mine. Have not had any problems with it, but make sure to take the time and adjust for each hook you place in it. For the money, its the best. -
I dont think it matter that much because I am pretty sure I am going to get Rookie of the Year!. Just kidding, best of luck, I would coat it, at least, thats what I am doing for mine.

Thanks for all the great information. Answered all my questions i think. -
I was just wondering which type and brand of chenille as a basic chenille for basic use yall use the most. There are just so many different kinds. Also, is there any place like a craft store that can sell something like chenille that you could use? Thanks

great tip Al. I think I am going to try that as well. I also like the idea of a home made guard for other things.
