  1. Not sure how it's going to float. Going to test it on some Bass. I'll find out Sunday. The hook size 10 on a Mustad 9672.
  2. Hi smallieFanatic I tied up a few of your pattern today. Looks like they will be killers. Thanks for sharing your pattern.
  3. The one thing that I would change would be the color of the links from blue to a more contrasting color. My old eyes aren't what they used to be. Otherwise it looks pretty good to me.
  4. I like your green hopper. Think I'll tie up a few tomorrow. Nice work.
  5. Wrap thread on needle and place end of thread in material holder. Stack hair to even up ends and tie onto hook as shown. Wrap thread on body to form tail. When you remove tail from needle take the thread that was in the material holder and pull to remove the slack and cut off excess. Tie on tail as far back on the hook as you can. Tie on a piece of foam about 4 or 5 mm wide. Stack hair to even up ends and tie onto hook as shown. Now take scissors or bodkin and divide hair in two parts. Bring foam through hair and tie down. Lift foam and wrap thread on hook and bring foam back down and form head and whip finish. To put on the front fly just repeat the instruction.
  6. A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by Floyd: Double Hex
  7. Spring has arrived and love is in the air. Look what I found on my vise today.
  8. Long distance bicycle riding and hiking in the mountains around here. Winter is the only time I can do that here. A little warm here in the summer, but it's a dry heat. :hyst:
  9. Received some interesting flies today. Thanks everyone. Nice ties.
  10. Looking at Spinner's Moth Imitation gave me an idea for a little different fly. By the way Spinner your Moth Imitation looks like a fish getter.
  11. Looks good to me.
  12. Looks like a fish getter to me. Another great tying job.
  13. I received a box full of good looking fish getters today. Nice job everyone.
  14. I'm still fooling around with the panfish flies.[a ttachment=19141:Ring_Tail_013.jpg]
  15. That bug looks authentic. Nothing to criticize on your tying job. Interesting ring your wearing.
  16. Give Netcraft a try. Their site is www.jannsnetcraft.com
  17. Another great tie Fred.
  18. Yes your right about a clean vise and a sick mind. I'm thinking about getting some therapy for that. The vise jaws are clean but the pedestal is covered with dead animal and bird parts. :hyst:
  19. I bet ya they'll catch some fish. Nice job.
  20. Looks like a winner to me.
  21. Thrifty is just another word for Tight Wad. That's me. :innocent:
  22. WOW I just got done with the voting. What a great bunch of outstanding flies in this contest. Every category was a challenge for an old guy like me. SmallieHunter you have done a great job on this contest.
  23. I had LASIK surgery a little over three years ago and couldn't be happier with the results. My doctor did what they call blended surgery. My left eye is 20/15 and the right eye is 20/30. This takes a little getting used to but after a short time works out great for me. I can see things really well at long distance and able to read a paper without glasses. Although I do wear 1.5 magnification reading glasses when I tie flies.
