  1. Rogue or North Umpqua River Steelhead, It was good enough for Zane Grey and it's good enough for me.
  2. Nelson Ishiyama's "Nelson's Caddis" great in rough water and floats like a cork. I have no idea why this fly from a 60's article in Fly Fisherman is not more popular. #2 is the "Irresistible", because, like the name, it is. Also a good way to learn to spin deer hair.
  3. Great set of flies arrived today. Can't wait to get these wet. Thanks to all the tyers and special thanks to Scott for Hosting. Tight Lines to All, Bob
  4. True but that is not always the case especially in a small understaffed rural post office. Perhaps if you contact the Postmaster prior to mailing you could make arrangements with the post office.
  5. Big E, Got my first Organza flies ready to travel. Do you want me to wait until after June to send them?
  6. I think you need to try and get the commitment from 100 tiers, plus maybe a few alternates, before you actually start the swap. Have a sign up cutoff date and then a due date. That way we all know how many flies we really need to tie. We could commit over the summer, but not have to start tying until the fall/winter. I think these swaps to help others and support FTF are a great idea.
  7. If you can find a copy of Catch That Fish: The Essential Guide to Fly Fishing Tactics by Peter Gathercole it lists patterns by species and type of water. Plus this book gives a large picture and the recipe for each fly. Some of the Brookie patterns he suggests are Wolly Bugger, Zonker, Hare's Ear Nymph and the F-Fly.
  8. Flygirl’s very attractive White Wulffs arrived today.
  9. In memory of my brother, Gene, an OSU grad, and fly fishing partner, I am sending 3 Sierra Bright Dot flies. Thanks for Hosting this. Bob
