  16. The Davidson Special. This is an early pattern that was the work of Maholon Davidson. He was a shop owner early in the last century in Debruce New York on the Willowemoc in the Catskills. He also was a rod maker of solid wood rods. I have seen examples of both these crafts at the Catskill Fly fishing center. Maholon has been forgotten over time but belongs up there with the great Catskill Fly tiers. He tied this fly with a body of Lt.tan Fox fur dyed in willow bark. I mixed Lt. Tan Fox with olive to achieve the effect. Hook. Daiichi 1180 size 12. Silk. Pearsalls gossamer golden Olive #11. Wing. Wood duck. Tail. Wood duck. Body. Lt. Tan Fox mixed with olive. Hackle.
