Thanks! It's really exciting and should be extremely cool! I'm going to have a lot of responsibility and a much larger staff than I've been responsible for at anytime in my past but I'm pretty confident going in. I worked it out so I'll have 4-5 days in between my end and start date so I'm planning on spending ALL of march 9th or 10 on the stream chasin steel! :yahoo:

I usually try to price my flies that I average about $10 an hr. after materials so it's on me to keep my speed up without loosing quality/durability. Most my flies go from $ .80 to $1.55 for the more complex/expensive to tie ones. At the same time I discount my prices slightly if someone is buying at least a dozen or more of a single pattern as it's easier /more efficient for me to tie 20 or more of a pattern at a time. I don't EVEN try to compete with the imported flies or I'd might as well just give them away.

Well, I just got the word today that I've got a new job!!!! It's a supernice step up to a Data Center Manager position. On top of that I'm going from an 1hr drive down to a 20 minute drive> :yahoo: :yahoo: The only drawback to the whole works? I'm going to be 40 minutes to hit steelhead after work instead of 5 minutes......

I think it was a great contest this year also and would expect to see a lot more entries next year!! I was happy to just see that some of mine were at least in the "respectable" catagory finally!! :yahoo: I think your doing a GREAT job of "tweaking" the contest fo far and think your right on the idea of consolidating down some of the classes. I'll also throw a vote in for the other suggestion of you having the ability to "adjust" an entry. I sent the link of the previous years and this years results to a friend and he was kind of turned off by the classifcation on some the entries in both years contests. While he felt the flies were "fantastic ties" he said he would "feel obligated" because they were by far the best in the class but they really didn't belong there and wasn't fair to the other tiers in the class. That's about all I can add. PS. I think the idea of a couple set pattern ties would be pretty cool also! Thanks again for running it Will!

Thanks guys! I picked up a copy of Photoshop 6.0 off ebay that supposed to be guranteed to register and upgrade legally for $108. Much better price!!! Now I can get the Academic CS upgrade through my wife's account for college for cheap and I'll be rockin and rolling!! Oh, and I'm sure I'll be able to work up some little gems for here too! :gunsmilie: :devil: :boxing:

OK, we OBVIOUSLY have some VERY experienced photo editors here on this board and like to know what editors people are using. I need to buy a package but not sure which to buy. :dunno: I don't know whether the full blown Adobe Photoshop CS2 is the right choice or if Elements will do what I need?????? About the fanciest thing I want to be able to do would be something like create a collage of photos that were rounded off and edges softened or placing a signature on a photo. Also changing the DPI of photo's for web publishing. help????? :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Definitely a big congrats to everybody that's made it this far!! Afte I voted the first round I though I knew hands down what one I'd vote for this round but once I had all of the winners together I had to rethink my vote. Really cool way to do the best overall fly Will!!

Alex, I'm really sorry to hear that. There have been a couple times that Angi's seriously played the D word but we've gotten through them. She even quit wearing her wedding band for a couple weeks and was looking at ads for apartments but we've survived. If you haven't done so maybe you can get somebody like a pastor or somebody nuetral to listen and help to hear both sides. I'd bet that you could even find one that will listen even if your not church going individuals. This may all be things you've already thought of... don't know. I know that you've already said that both of you want to make sure that your kids feel like they still have a family but I'm still going to say this any way. Make sure you and your wife show the kids all the love you possibly can through this. When my wife's mom and dad split they were fighting about who was going to keep the kids but neither one wanted them. I know you've got a lot of friends here that are much closer that you can talk to but if you ever need to feel free.......

I like the stocking foot waders with a good wading shoe myself. If you get a pair of good breathables that have the ability to roll down and be held up with a belt like a pair of pants you'll be just as comfortable and a whole lot more versatile.

Too bad about the meetings but I feel it. I was on 2nd shift for 4 years until this spring and could never do much of anything. As far as getting together to some tying DEFINITELY!!! Unless I get a new job I can even do some weakday mornings from time to time because I work a weird schedule. Just zing me a PM!!
