  1. Thats a great looking box Paco. Gratz on your first muskie of the year too man. I'm about done with my steelheading for a while so it'll be time for me to hit the muskie water too.
  2. Congratulations and keep up the good work. Put those flies in a glass case and hang it up to display. Very cool stuff.
  3. I've been trying to glue some zonker strips together for a double bunny fly but when the glue dries it causes the zaon to be brittle and break. I've seen these flies done before but I cant figure out the adhesive that their using. Anyone know the secret?
  4. Welcome to the Forum Fanatik. Glad you chose to post it up on the Muskie forum. I'm loving the EP fibers for these critters as well. It doesn't soak up too much water so casting them isn't bad at all. The water coming together for spring pretty early around here so hopefully we can start getting into some fish soon. I'm also a firm believer in bigger the better for Muskie. I've got some articulated patterns that are nothing but reverse tied bucktail and lots of schalppen. They fly pretty well with the ten weight.
  5. Yea shoot him an email and let him know your mailing some. If you wanna come tie some in South Bend just let me know. I'll save ya a seat. And we'll have to know a little in advance so you'll have a meal too.
  6. Very nice man. I've got a little over 60 tied and on March 3rd I'll be in South Bend tying as many as I can knock out in 8 hours. Theres gonna be a big dinner and a couple big time tyers there showing how to do some complex patterns. If you can make it down Ben that'd be awesome. By the way did you email Tim and tell him your involved?
  7. They would like them all to be the same pattern. If you can get guys in your club to all tie a dozen or so, you should be able to come up with your numbers. Thanks for participating and be sure to email Tim from the link I posted about the pattern you have chosen. There is also a list of flies on there to choose from. 50 of a pattern and 50 of another should be fine too.
  8. Hobby Lobby sells marabou neck things for costumes. Stuff drag queens wear. Its a piece about 4 feet long for less then 6 bucks. They have a clown colored one that has alot of exotic colors on it. Pretty fun to wear when no ones looking too lol.
  9. All together we've reached 5100 flies. If I can get a few more people off here that'd be great.
  10. Yea I had that happen too. Their more then willing to pitch in for a cause.
  11. Cmon guys. its for a good cause. If you can't come up with 100 its no big deal. People have been donating 50 or less even. Anything helps.
  12. Thanks for signing up! March 3rd is the date they need to be here by. Spread the word
  13. Theres a link here that can explain what this organization is doing better then what I can. I'm tying 200 flie for the cause; they ask that you tie 100 of the same fly. It sounds like alot but we still have over a month to get it done. I thought this would be a good site to advertise it on because your a good bunch of guys. Even if your far from South Bend, dont be scared to get involved. You can always mail your flies to them. Thats what I'm doing. If you decide to participate, please post so on here so I can keep track of how many get involved and send Tim an Email from this link letting him know what your going to be tying. http://sjrvff.com/?page_id=182 Theres a strict list of flies they will be accepting so please note this before buying your materials. Theres something for every style of tyer though. Thanks for your help guys. I look forward to seeing how many I can get recruited off this forum.

  15. Its not about how many fish you catch in life, its about where flyfishing takes you in life.
  16. I've heard some great things about PA trout. I'm sure you'll have the water to yourself in February. Always a plus, Seperate the men from the mice. One of the guys from the Muskie forum is from PA and catches trout up there. Five Finger Death Punch is his name. Nice guy. Maybe he can fill you in on some stuff. . . Be sure you post some pics for all of us. New water is always nice to see in this dreary time of year.
  17. Get in touch with a local fly shop. They're usually more then happy to fill you in on some info. Most of them usually have a book on local hatch charts there ready for you to purchase. Just talking to more locals always helps when trying to learn things about your native waters.
  18. The ole Tarpon toad ehh. Awesome stuff. What color pattern was that toad? And is that Cedar key area? My friend from a fly shop went out there the other day. I wonder if the world is small enough for it to be the same guy lol. Hes a toad lover and always has a few on him. That and backcountry baitfish....
  19. A New Years update for those who care. I brought in the new year by making a bit of a drive to the closest steelhead stream in my area. There was 30mph winds, snow and rain mix that was drowning my hopes of hooking a fish. After finding a dead fish on the bank that some asshole had left hooked to a stringer that was tied to a tree I decided to call it a day. I took some pics of the fish and went to send it to my buddy when I saw a message from my muskie partner back home. He also decided to bring in the new year by taking the boat out on the water and casting for some muskie and ended up getting one in the boat. A new years muskie for sure! I'm pretty sure that was probably the first muskie caught in the world to bring in the new year. Congrats DB
  20. So this is where the magic happens eh. Well, my friend we need to start gettin some bunnies tied for spring. The pike are working up an appetite.
  21. I used to work at a Gander Mtn and I had a lady looking at the Lindy blades you can buy and she bought a box because she said she was going to make ear rings out of them. Pretty nutty.
  22. Love the spongebob square heads. Mr. Bohen is like a living legend in my eye haha. I was emailing him back and forth for a while and he hooked me up with alot of line tips and just helped me get my stuff together for this fish. I plan on getting up to his camp this summer and floating the river with him for a day or two. There will be a price tag of course but I'm sure it'll be worth it. I've got to find a buddy who can ditch life for about 2 weeks too and camp up there in WI with me. I'm gonna float the river for as many days as possible but I don't wanna do it alone.
  23. Hell yea man. Being on LSC pretty much puts you in the best Muskie waters around. That lake is so thick with them its not even funny. All the muskie guys from around my area usually make a yearly trip up there in the fall and come back with pictures of straight dinosaurs. The pattern of the fish here, is a little different then the fish up there which I find to be pretty interesting. You'll have to post some more fishporn on here from your muskie feats. Were all looking forward to seeing more of those burly muskie flies of yours as well. I tie alot of doubles that are mainly just high quality bucktail tied in backwards and the longest schlappen I can find as a 'tail'. I've got a couple triples tied up now but I haven't got them in the water yet.
  24. Glad to see this forum is moving again. I'm living in the Ft Wayne area right now and I'll definitely be here all the thru the year so if you wanna take me out in you Ranger, I'm more then cool with that! As of now I'm fishing out of a 16 ft ganoe on the smaller water, but thankfully for me its always pretty calm out here. Sorry to hear about your bum luck with the leg. This spring is slowly coming up so it'll be on once the ice gets off. If the ice ever even comes this year. . . As far as the flies go, I think their legit. I have no real issue with blades on a fly. Its all about tying a fly that you have confidence in. I haven't integrated any blades into mine yet but I was just talking to a buddy about doing it the other day. I'll probably end up borrowing some of your pattern ideas.
