  1. Excellent, pls let me know if you need any more PAYPAL funds to send the returns to me, I don't want you out of pocket because I live in gods country (Australia)............lol
  2. I liked the Stonfo range of tools, I use their bobbins (6), bodkin, threader, range of dubbing tools, scissors from Terra, mataralli whip finishers, also got a couple of tools from renzetti, all are nice in the hand and work well.
  3. Well firstly I got my Tubeology supplies in yesterday and started playing around with tube fly's, first was a shrimp patterm. Secondly, I popped down to the only tackle store in the area that stocks fly gear to start the process of choosing my new rod / reel and I found some polar fibre so started playing around with a baitfish pattern I remembered seeing on Youtube (not finished yet, need to get some 3D eyes and CCG)
  4. That was tied with the HMH tube gear, got some Tubeology gear today and tried this one again, I much prefer the Tubeology system.
  5. My flies have been shipped, can take two weeks for stuff from AU to USA or reverse but they are on their way. Dave
  6. Had to start tying a few more of the prawn imitations after I sent all 11 that I had over to a shrimp swap on this forum.........starting to build up a bit of a collection now but still gota keep tying.
  7. Very nice indeed, after making my first work station I thought of so many things I could have done better, looking forward to making v2.
  8. Well I have refined the clouser a little, I was not entirely happy so I have tried again, here is the next generation.
  9. Well I took the prawn / shrimp pattern I got from fishnuts and transferred it to a tube using the HMH tube system. One thing I did learn was that I did tie it a little too tight on the tube however, the line still passes through. Here is a picture.
  10. I use Stonfo bobbins, 2 x adjustable drag bobbins and others are standard type. I have a griffin bobbin that came with my vise that I use for lead wire.
  11. Thanks Dazz, they are awesome looking flies, wish I could tie a tenth as good as that..........lol...........just need more practice. I got the procedure and proportions a little better on subsequent flies, in fact just finished a few to send off to Kevin (eastern fly). Here is an example. on completing this one I still thought the feelers were still a little long so I trimmed them off a bit more, looks way better.
  12. Get you a supply of Altoids tins. I put foam in the bottom of mine for noise. Aslo I get the envelopes from the Dollar Store. I'm tight or at least my family thinks. Kevin Kevin, I had to google what Altoid Tins were.............lol, will find something similar, thanks for that. Dont they sell that candy there.? Kevin They do but only in specialist sweets stores that cater exclusively to American sweets and guess what, its no where near me.........lol

  14. Kevin, what is the best way to send a couple of fly's thru the post?
  15. It does have a lead wire underwrap. Here is a link to the post by Dazz where he shares the two part video detailing materials and tying procedure. http://www.strikehook.com/forum/15-flyfishing/89421-tying-fishnuts-prawn-fly
  16. Kevin, will send you a couple if you want them. Dave I would love a copy and tying info if possable. Thank you. I will pm my addy. I would love to get that one in the swap. 18. Its good fun trying new patterns and I found this one on the Australian Saltwater Fly Fishing Forum, its called 'Fishnuts Prawn Fly' and this was my first attempt. Whilst the tying is finished I am just waiting on some liquid fusion to arrive to coat the carapace.
  19. Great job on the bench, youreally did well. If I may ask what vise do you have ? Thanks for showing us your operation . milo Thanks for the comment, the vise is a Griffin Montanna Mongoose.
  20. Made a few additions to the bench, here is the updated photo, also, an image of a storage solution for hanks of flash material.
  21. Cheers............will resize the image and update, also thanks for the tips. Dave
  22. Thanks for the advice, I did tie in some hackle tail, 2 on either side but the feathers I choose were too small for the fly. They are enveloped by the bucks tail, it is a smallish cape and I will to pick up some more. I am just using this one for practice flies.
  23. Thanks for that advice, I did not have a good pair of scissors then but I do now.............lol, used a loon water based head cement but I don't really like it, might try something else. Cheers Well I moved on to my second pattern and tied my first Deciever today, I think I have the head way too big, will have to work on that, also, might use a white thread next time (will have to get some). I suppose with the big head I can always paint some eyes on it...........lol. Thoughts?
