  1. Just finished voting. Congrats to all participants - some really nice ties out there. That's a heck of a lot of work Will. Real nice job on pulling this together. Maybe next year you could go 3-D so we could spin the pictures! Bamboo
  2. Wonder what kind of flies they'll tie with that pelt? Bamboo
  3. Thanks, figured it was spam or something. -Pat
  4. Got an email with the familiar "(From Fly Tying)" in the subject with the sender listed as "Fly Tying". All it is a link to blackvisa.info. Not being in the habit of opening something that I'm not sure of, figured I'd ask here first. Is this on the level or just junk? Anybody else receive this email? -Bamboo
  5. Dropped mine in the mail today. #18 Parachute BWO Bamboo
  6. I use something called Peterson's Liquid Cork. Unfortunately, I hadn't seen it available lately and am about to run out. Very effective plus it works on CDC. Bamboo
  7. I got the same brochure yesterday and sent in my reply card for the free issue. Get to view the premier issue before subscribing... How can you go wrong? Bamboo
  8. I've seen them at shows but not used any. They look to be a good product at a reasonable price. I was actually planning on picking some up at the show in Marlboro this weekend. Bamboo
  9. Got mine today. Great ties everyone and thanks OSD! Bamboo
  10. Hadn't used my tube in years but I do remember that first time out. Not enough air in the tube, water over the back of the waders, it was a learning experience. Once I worked out the kinks, I loved it. Just remember to dress warm. The leg cramps can set set in after you're in the water a few hours. -Bamboo
  11. Damn! I don't have enough sense to stay out. I'm in. -Bamboo

    Force Fins

Thanks everyone. Hopefully I can check them out at the shows this winter before buying. Bamboo

    Darn Dog!

Lost a whole whiting gold neck that way! Brand new too. I did pick up as many of the feathers as I could and sorted by size so I was able to salvage some. Funny, I never found the skin either. That must be what attracts them. Bamboo
  14. Impressive!!! Well done Johan. -Bamboo

    Force Fins

I have to replace the fins I use with my pontoon boat. Up til now, Ive used the step-in style Caddis fins ($29.99). Anybody use the Force Fins? Are they really worth the extra money? Bamboo
  16. Thanks OSD. Appreciate you taking the time to pull these together! -Bamboo

    Bobbin tweak

Tiemco makes a bobbin that is bent as you suggest with an offset. The effect is that the bobbin tube is in a line tangent with the outside diameter of the thread spool. This is about all I use anymore - never thought to bend them myself. -Bamboo
  18. Mcfly- Please PM your address. I'm done and will send out next week. #14 King's River Caddis -Bamboo
  19. QUOTE One of the things he told me was to never lose my first fly cause someday I'll look back and laugh about it. That's good advice. I wish I still had some of my first flies for a good laugh! -Bamboo
  20. Should have an attractor dry - something like a lime trude. -Bamboo
  21. Like pacres said, with most kits you'll end up with materials you won't use and you'll be short material you do use. Spend your money on the best vise/tools you can afford and then by the materials on an as-needed basis. It will work better in the long run. Bamboo
  22. I've cemented the feather to streched nylons using pvc cement. Stretch the nylon in an embroidary hoop and then glue the feather to the nylon. I'd guess you could put a 'film' in a hoop and get the same effect. Bamboo
  23. Nice site Johan! And some nicer bows. Mostly lake fishing in Holland? Bamboo
  24. I'll be at the Marlboro show. Bamboo
