Professori - I used your stimulator tie while fishing a lake at my nephew's property in Nikiski, AK. It was VERY successful in getting strikes. :yahoo: You gotta send me that receipe and tying instructions!! TTYS!!

I ended up bringing my streamers and found an egg sucking leech kit at Fred Meyers in Soldatna. I tied up a few (unweighted) and will give them a try tomorrow. I was gettng hits today on one of the lakes that holds trout using a stimulator dry.

I'm leaving tonight for a week long trip to the Kenai Peninsula, with no time left to tie any flies. (story of my life!) :wallbash: I have a ton of flies with the exception of egg patterns and leeches. What other "normal" patterns could I take with any hope of success?? Looks like a nice clean tie! My skill set doesn't quite reach that level, but I'm looking forward to getting there!!

Agreed! I use a midge or another dropper ocassionally and the results can be pretty cool!! The dry fly acts like a strike indicator as well as for it's intended purpose. Those of you who haven't should give it a try!! :headbang:

Man, I gotta get up that way!! I wonder what it's like up in the Shaver Lake area or up by Sierra Summit?? There was zero water last year and some of the toughest fishing conditions I've EVER seen up there!!

All the envelopes hit the mailbox last night with the exception of Gary's which I will have to take directly to the post office as soon as I can spare some time in the next day or so. Two of our swappers bailed without any notification (see the list on pages 1 or 6), unfortunately that does happen in these swaps occasionally. I look forward to hearing back from you guys when your flies get to you and having some of you guys back when I host a dry fly swap later this summer!! You guys made this a very memorable swap for me. It was a pleasure hosting it for you guys!!!!

All of the flies have been divided and everyone received an extra one thanks to cencalfly. He tossed in a nice looking dropper for each of you that should help slay 'em! When I finished getting everyone's flies sorted, I was again amazed at the quality of what each of you have tyed. You guys flat ROCK!! :headbang: I thank each of you for the extras. I won't need to add to my dry fly box for a few trips!! You are all a credit to the forum and I hope you enjoy the flies that each of you have tyed! I will post later in the summer for another dry fly swap and if I do, I will be sure to add a fly or two for any of you who join in. I'll try to get these in the mail by Monday AM. professori - Yours will take an extra day or two to get out as I need to hit the post office in person. Hope you don;t mind the slight delay! Thanks for the replies guys, as well as for the heads up Frank! A couple of swaps ago, we had one guy who actually mailed mail the flies to himself instead of the swapmeister!! DOH!! :wallbash: I'm in no rush, as I don't go on vacation until July 3, so I think we'll have plenty of time to get this one completed. I'll keep you all posted as to the progress! :headbang:

My past experience has shown that the USPS will sometimes take thier sweet time and if postage is an issue, they also take thier time getting them back to the original sender. If it's OK with you guys, I'll wait an extra day, or two, in case our postal system has been the cause for t e delay. I'll post again if anything changes. Jim - Fair question ... On this swap I didn't tie a fly. I saw that no one had stepped up to run it and figured what the heck, I can adminster this one for the guys, as most of the participants were fairly new to the forum and with a couple of swaps under thier belts they can "take thier turn in the barrel" for themselves. I remember the first one I ran, it was too cool for school!! You'll find that in some swaps the swapmeister may not tie. When I initiate a swap, I usually tie a dry fly of some sort (Wulff, PMD, Caddis, etc.) But I have participated in a few for wets and I usually tie some type of nymph or emerger. I knew when I agreed to run this one that I'd be pretty buried between work and family. My wife's sister just passed away (age 50) a couple of weeks ago (we knew it was coming, but oviously didn't know when) from lung cancer (never a smoker) and we've been dealing with the family and friends as the day for her memorial approached. (Being held this Saturday) The next time I start a thread for a swap, I'll be tying right along with the rest of the swappers, as I normally would. When I do, it will most likely be a dry fly swap. Keep your eyes peeled later this summer, and I'm sure you'll see me postiing to get a new one started!

Well thanks for saying so, but... Actually, this has been the easiest swap I've run! 11/12 of you guys have been outstanding with your communications BTW - (THE #1 factor in a good swap from either the tyer OR swapmeister's side), AND sent all the postage!! :headbang: I'm looking forward to getting the last two sets of flies and getting these sent out to you guys. Actually, I'd love to hear how well they fished for you after you get them!!!!

Hey gang!! I just received JeepClowns flies last night bringing our total to 9 of 12 done!! I know of two more that are on the way. Only one tyer has not responded to my PM's inquiring as to how it was going and he hasn;t logged on for about a month, so we may be one tyer short. (Occassionaly it happens.) :dunno: I'll send back one of your flies to each of you, along with the one's from everyone else.. In case, you know the man, please contact him and let him know and ask him to get back to me ASAP in case he's just tied up with "life", as I anticipate getting the flies out early next week. Thanks to all of you for your follow through. It's been a prettey darn good swao and the flies I've recieved so far look great!!

UPDATE ... FIVE DAYS LEFT!!! :yahoo: I received flies from DrVette and Deserttrout - So 8 guys are accounted for, as of this morning. I'm sure the rest will show up in plenty of time!! Page 1 list has been updated to show where we stand as of today. Give me holler if you need to!

Only ONE week left! :yahoo: The list on page one has been updated. Pat's flies came in Saturday (THANKS PAT!) Only one tyer has not asked for an addy or replied that flies are on the way and I sent a reminder this afternoon, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

No problem! I made the change to the tyer list on page one. I may have a couple of extra padded envelopes (if I can find them) :dunno: If I do I'll just transfer over the address and postage.

WOW, sorry about the mix up! AND ... Thanks for offering to still participate in the swap!! We've got a nice collection going and I think you'll enjoy the flies that are in the mix thus far! I see a few of those being real nice to try on steam fishing steelhead!! :yahoo:

I just re-read your post. (Guys, this is one VERY funny man!!) Actually, California DFG stocks some pretty hardy little buggers! Most cities have small lakes that allow for fishing. I usually fish Laguna Niguel Lake, NOT stocked by DFG but privately stocked by a consession that hauls them in from Mammoth Lakes, CA and Utah. Also, when we have a good year for rain, Trabuco Creek gets stocked and 1/2 the challenge is getting back through the brush to get to the creek. It's one of the most challenging areas to fish that I've ever encountered!! If you don't have a four-wheel drive vehicle, I wouldn't recommend trying it! But, hey thanks for asking!!!!
