Took me a bit to figure out what the material was. No name on the package or so I have left. It was put out by the company that produces Polar Fiber. It was called Polar Plus. It was suppose to allow you to tie big flies. My one attempt to use if for that purpose was a disaster the material tangled and knotted when I fished it. Put the stuff away until I decided to tie some Siliclones and realized I didn't have any wool. It worked well, after the silicone set up I treated the material with Water Shed. Much lighter than the ones tied with wool. I don't think they make it any more. You might find some on line.

Are you saying it was made by the same company that produces "Polar Fiber"? Sorry, I am having trouble concentrating. I have one of the worst flu's Ive ever had. Im a little out of it.

  2. Good video, I'm watching the superbowl (go panthers) with one eye and the first thought seeing your video was "wow that's some great ginger fur. Wonder what that's from."

It's like everyone here has never seen a beard before... Lol. Everyone comments about the beard...

When I run out of materials I cut from my beard... Haha

  3. Mc... I think it's more likely to require a certain number of posts than a certain amount of time. I know I was listed as a bait-fisherman (beginner) until I had posted 40 times. Keep talking to us and use up your quota.

You might be right. Ok I will wait till I am free from the beginner bondages! HAHA

  4. Not sure about here but at some forums/ sites etc.new users have to wait a certain period of time to gain the advantages of added features ( usually a day or two) then they can post. It's a measure I suppose to make sure it's not just spam coming in. Like I said , not sure that is the case here.

Yeah I think your right that must be the case here.

  5. Very nice, SC15 1/0 1 of my favorite hooks, what is the material you are using?

Yeah I love the SC15 as well! Thanks for the kind words.

It's a lot like EP fiber. Called super fiber. I actually sell it on eBay. I think it's better than EP, and cheaper. $2.50 a pack. It does have slight differences, and probably better suited for smaller flies than EP, which I tie more often. However EP is better for larger ones.

  6. FullSizeRender (6).jpg FullSizeRender (6).jpg McFly here a couple of deerhair deceivers, white is a great color but I also carry a couple of sharpies so I can match the color of the bait in the water.

Hey for some reason it keeps saying "you do not have permission to view images on this server" whenever I try to look at an image. It also says that when I click the "more options" thing at the bottom to upload an image. Anyone know what's going on? Sorry but I just couldn't view the image large enough to see the fly. :(.

  7. Nice tie. Good video. I'll have to give it a try.

This is what I use for the mullet run in South Jersey. Based on Bob Pops Siliclone. Tail is white bucktail, flash tied on the side. He uses wool for the body. I used an artificial hair that resembles cotton candy. You can spin it like the wool trim it to shape. Lighter than wool and it will float in the surface film.. Colored with permanent markers, coated with silicone. It's worked well for me on stripers.

Thats a nice fly! I like it! What is that material name, do you know?

  8. It's fairly easy. Choose "More Reply Options" Click on "Choose File" Select the file you want to attach. Click on "Open" The file name should appear next to the "Choose File" box. Click on "Attach This File" It should appear below the reply box. Click on "Add to Post" Just make sure your cursor is where you want the picture.

I like it because I can add a picture right from my computer. I don't have to create a "gallery" or store my pictures on another site.

Yeah, thats what I did... It said my file is not acceptable or something like that. But like I said, its a jpg...

  9. No I meant what I wrote McFly sparse deerhair moves well in saltwater and catches stripers. Bob Popovics wrote a book named Popovics Fleyes, your fly reminded me of the deerhair deceiver, Ill see if I can find one and post it.

Oh ok, I had never heard of that. Thank you so much for the info. I am gonna have to check that book out. I honestly don't know a whole lot about much of the previous "styles". I started tying just cause I was sick of paying the $10/fly in the shops. I taught myself most of this stuff by finding info online. I probably should have read books instead of watch youtube videos, but its what was accessible for me. I started making these video's because it was hard for me to find good video's for certain patterns and I wanted to pass some (the very little I have) onto people like me that don't have access to other sources. There are a few guys doing video's that have high quality, but they cannot tie all the flies you know? HAHA

  10. Actually yes your right, I just looked up the fly you named and I think you meant to say the "flex delete" and it's a lot like that. Tied with different materials, and not epoxied as high up the hook shank, but close to that, yes.

I fish for stripers in new england from shore, I use a similar fly, one of popovics fleyes tied with deer hair, it is my go to fly that has done well for me.

  11. Yeah it's like a popovic I guess, I'd say it's closer to an EP style though. But yes I try to tie sea through and whispy, to bring out depth in the fly. Kind of like the approach popovic usually uses for his flies. I'd love to see yours GC59. I tie this in a chartreuse and white for striper, works pretty well.

Agn54, your right it does push lots of water.

    Thanks add147
