  1. We received ours last Friday, direct deposit.

We'll hold onto it for as long as we can, to see what the future holds.   I'm an independent contractor, and am reduced to less than 1 day of work a week now, but suspect I'll be hammered when the 'powers that be' decide they no longer need to protect me from this devastating virus.  Last week they said next week we'll hit peak death, I heard a report this morning saying the same.  How long do I have to wait for something to not happen?

  2. I'm just a bit north of you also, Norm.  Last night was the first night I could get them to respond consistently. using Royal and AuSable Wulffs, as I brought the wrong dry box.  There was a  good amount of surface sipping going on at my lake.  Didn't get any photos of the bluegills, but did snap a passable shot of two amorous bald eagles.

Two photos below, to try and get all flies in focus.  I apologize in advance if I messed up the names of anyone's flies.

  4. The way I bought a pair online was to go through all the reviews, making note of any that mentioned how they fit with waders, and made my decision that way.  So, I went full size  bigger.  I triy to err on the side of a little too big, as I'd rather have smelly,  sweaty feet with an extra pair of sox, than cold, cramped, numb feet due to decreased circulation.

And, since I wet wade throughout the summer, too hot is rarely an issue.

Masks may be of help but they mainly keep you from touching your mouth and nose. They are also a reminder to others to keep their 6 ft distance.
The most common way to get the virus is to touch infected surfaces and then transfer them to your face.
Keep safe and if you travel out don’t touch your Mouth, Nose, or Eyes.

Its a cheap old martin classic mc56.   I am tempted to order a power handle off ebay and make it work.    Removing the old is easy.,   Martin classics were notorious for poor handle rivets .    What can i say i’m cheap.

LOL, me too, cheap as a hobo begging for money.  I wouldn't retire it either, nearly all my reels are at least 40 years old.  I love the old Pflueger's especially.

  7. Like Poopdeck & Mike, I've never taken a 'fishing' vacation.  However, as my vacations consist of either camping or visiting the shore, I always managed to fish while there.  I could care less what I'm catching, I don't have a 'bucket list', and I don't turn my nose up at catching anything.  Actually, I'm pretty happy even if I don't catch anything. Sometimes all I need is to whip that fly back and forth across the water, and I'm good.

I think when you replicate a classic fly, as long as you have the general shape of the fly, you're golden. I don't think it wont work because it isn't exactly the same.

Oh yeah, Mad Duck, I agree.

I enjoy tying some flies as much as learning about their history, how they've changed over the years, and how they can differ from one region to another.  But, they'll get tied to the end of my line even when they aren't 'perfect'.
