  1. Jimmy, Glad to see someone writing about flyfishing Singapore. I just returned from there last weekend. Prior to going, I looked for info on flyfishing there. There was 1 report that said there was no quality flyfishing there. WRONG!!!! Fishing for PB on a 2wt was great. I will have to tie some of your Goldie Glass?? pattern. They would definitely do the trick there. Hope to see you when I get back to Singapore. Shawn
  2. Joshua, Did you recieve my flies? I sent them out in late February. If so, I look forward to seeing what you folks tied. Shawn
  3. Joshua, Do you have a final count for this swap? I would like to finish the flies and get them to you ASAP. I recently finished a dozen Beaux patterns for a different swap. I have to tell you, those were a lot harder to tie than the pigboat. A lot more steps. The hardest part with this pattern is attaching the rubber hackle evenly around the hook shank while not covering the eye of the hook. I am tying a black body with black hackle and lime green rubber. I can't wait to see what the rest of the swapsters are tying. Shawn
  4. If I do not have to include the spinner blade portion, i;m in. Please let me know. Shawn
  5. The Jimmy Nix video is definitely the way to go. I do a lot of spinning, and I still use most of the techniques learned in that video. Good luck. One more thing, having the proper deer hair will make a BIG difference. You can do a search to find posts regarding deer hair selection. Shawn
  6. I can feel your pain. I am currently involved with three swaps. Two of which have passed the deadlines. I am confident my flies will be arriving soon, but the thought of getting ripped is in the back of my mind. Losing the flies is not really my concern, it is losing the trust I have in others. One of the sites I have multiple swaps in have the flies go directly through the sponsor. I kind of like that idea. The swapmeister just organizes and answers questions. I am confident your flies will be arriving very soon. Please keep us posted.
  7. I took a smart pill and figured it out. I remember the deerhair swap, but if I recall, there was already a limit. I will try to get in on the next one. Until then...
  8. How do you check the archives???
  9. Did not know there was a hairbug swap. I would have definitely been there. Maybe next time around. Until then....
  10. The Duncan Loop is the only knot I use. I like it because the loop gives the fly more action. It also acts like a mini shock absorber.
  11. Nice baby diver!!! I used to tie some on 3366 size 10 way back when. The gills loved them. I never put eyes on my divers. They look great. I may start putting them on my divers. As far as burning eye sockets, a doctor gave me a used vas tube burner. It works great. I can make the socket as big or as small as I need. Once I finish the flies for the current exchange I am on, I am going to add a couple of those baby divers to my fly box. Thanks for the inspiration.
  12. If your hooks do not stick into your fingernail when dragged acroos them, sharpen them. Sharp hooks make a big difference. I never believed this until I started flyfishing. As soon as I would start missing strikes, I would sharpen my hook. The following hit would usually result in a hooked fish.
  13. Red- I feel down right terrible about that thread. I tried using the black and had the same troubles you had. The white seemed to work fine for me. You can tie the entire fly with the single strand floss if you prefer. I know Lefty Kreh uses it on almost all of his flies. I will make it up to you. Shawn
  14. Troutman - I am in Vancouver. We are practically neighbors. I have been here for over 6 years and have never made it out for those ocean going critters. I will one of these days. If you make it to the Tying Expo in Eugene on the 20th, stop by and say hello. I will be tying bassbugs during the last session. Hope to see you there. Shawn
