Good point SH i havent been so i dont know if the same flies here will have the same effect over there so when you say brighter are you talking pink/chartruse/and some of the really bright colors we use here sometimes or just something thats a bit brighter than the "natural" colors? Gonna make a trip to the fly shop this week so i want to get everthing at once SD
  2. 4am huh....lol after the day i have had bud i'll be long gone by then Spent the day helping my sister and brother in law moving furniture so they could get there 9' tree into their 8' cieling house! Had to also preform a little " modifications" to the tree trunk lol SD

  4. Well then i guess the "tying list" is growing for us then isnt it boys Hows this shaping up for the PA trip? Small black stones Suckers spawn Shad imitations small brown wooly buggers single egg flys maybe some small bead heads like prince nymphs and hares ears????? Anything else??? SD

Thanks Chris.....yeah my buddys son nash has been going with us for about 2 years now (hes gonna be 7 next week) that was the first time he hooked a salmon and would you believe he landed it I was fishing about 10ft from hime (i dont like to let him get to far away from me or his dad) and i heard him scream HEY YOU GUYS I GOT ONE!!!.... i looked over and he was about to be pulled into the water...lol. after i grabed him and got behind him i just held the rod with one hand and let him do his thing. After about 15mins we brought the fish to net Its great not only being there to see a kid land his first fish but to be the one that helps him is even better. I think i have the pic of me and him with the fish i'll see if i cant dig it out. SD
  6. hmmmmmmm........that might be worth messing around with shoe. Do you think that they will still be activly "chasing" shad and such in jan? I guess its pretty cold right now so i dunno maybe a few weeks isnt gonna change what there after.....any thoughts??? SD
  7. I have never tried them but i do like the look of them if you guys get some let me know what you think of them,i might give them a shot on my trout streamers next summer if they are worth it. SD

    Might try a shop that deals with baseball/sports type cards i'm sure they would have to have something simular to a "shadow box" for cards that may cost less SD

  13. Should have mine in the mail on monday,hope to get some tying done not only for the contest/swaps but also for the trip. SD

Since the topic of an extra set of clothes was brought up (good tip ffe) Always carry a lighter or some waterproof matches in your vest ,in the unlucky event that you do a swan dive in the river when the temp is subzero a quick fire will not only warm you but will help to dry out your clothes if you happen to forget an extra set. SD
  15. OK i guess there is a difference....it looks like a freakin pc of popcorn I'll start tyin some up after a trip to the fly shop this weekend just in case! And Will about the 20-40 fish day......if i land 20-40 and they turn out to be suckers then you might not be returning from PA!.... please tell me the elk isnt also loaded with suckers! SD

  18. This may sould dumb but whats the difference between "sucker spawn" and a normal egg fly ......i usally use ethier Mcfly egg material or just plain yarn ....will that be wrong for this trip? SD

Should be a great time guys i am really starting to look forward to it,i wont be able to get the 2nd off but i am gonna try to at least get out early so we can get a headstart on the traffic...we should be in town by friday evening ....BTW what town is this in??? i havent even brought any maps up online yet. Whats the town and whats the main road through town? SD

  21. TT i always tie a seperate pc of mono to the hook bend i dont know how you would go about tying 2 flies to the same leader.....i'm sure theres probally a way but i havent done it. SD

  23. Just found a pic of a bowfin i caught this summer and thought i'd put it up.. Like i said i dont fish for them (mainly because i dont have much knowledge of them) but when one of these big ol ugly boys grabs your offering while fishing for smallies you deff. have a fight on your hands SD
  24. Well Will,i talked to my buddy again today and made sure i could get outa work a bit early to leave on that friday so all looks good. I'd say i'm a deffinent THERE! I am going to call the lodge prob. this weekend and see about a room,really lookin forward to meeting up with you guys.....hope some other members will be able to make it. Lets just hope Big Daddy doesnt pull out his bag and try to sell us Avon make up back at the lodge SD
