  9. i also have the book and have to say its just ok. so many more midges on the internet than in that book. too many repetitive patterns in the book. go to the library or book store and check it out before you buy it.

  18. unfortunately it is a mechanism that has moving parts. something CAN break or something WILL wear out!
  19. so what's so special about it? nostalgia?
  20. stab the pom pom with the hook point and work it around the bend. add a drop of crazy glue in the middle of the hook shank and slide the pom pom over the glue. after it dries, pull the pom pom forward to the eye of the hook and add a drop of crazy glue at the bend of the hook side of the pom pom.
  21. been using craft store pom poms for years. works great! just stab em with the hook and a little crazy glue to hold em in place
  22. from the interweb I wouldn't worry too much, though, whether a fly hook has a straight eye, down eye or upturned eye. One benefit of an up turned eye, on a salmon hook in particular, is that it facilitates the tying of the popular Turle knot, which helps the fly lie straight in line with the leader.
  23. avelino, thank you for the explanation. keep the flies coming, these are a very interesting style of tying and an excellent way to expand my tying horizons
