  1. Love the dragonfly! :headbang: I could see a big ol bass swallowin that guy up. I know what I'm trying next
  2. Finally got the hang of spinning the deer hair...Double sided razors are awesome :headbang: Now i need some more colors and more patterns. Whatcha think?
  3. Your right there is nothing better than catching on your own flys. I don't remember the exact patterns, it was a basic dry fly pattern close to an Adams Fly...anyways it produced these catches. And these were the only days I felt like harvesting the fish..I still have some in the freezer btw :yahoo: One more good fry and I'll be ready to restock ye olde ice box this spring!
  4. Stony... the yarn thingamobobamajig that you describe is called a baby doll. I found it in The Flytiers Manual (amazon linky) great resoucre for the price. If your lookin for another good bass/panfish resource check this one out. Sometimes its nice to find things in a book still, instead of glaring at a computer monitor all the time.
  5. I guess maribou would provide some nice crappie jig style of movement... Good idear! I just patterned off all that i have seen which are typically flash and bucktail.
  6. Myself and my cousin's son ... future country music singer... cuz that is
  7. I also like to dress my treble hooks for my popper and topwater lures. Anyone else take an occasional detour from the single barbs?
  8. Thx for the replies guys! I hate to burst your bubble fly time...but the zipties holds on a binder clip which holds on my trimmings cather. I thought it was silly to pay for a trimmin' catcher and i was tired of sweeping everytime I finished, so the water bottle with the top cut off seems to catch most of the junk. Ya its a crummy vice, the one that came with the BPS flytying starter kit, but it gets the job done. :headbang:
  9. I finally decided to share a little bit. I've been prowling the threads off and on here for quite some time now and thought I would thank the guys who caused little pieces of deer hair and turkey feathers to appear throughout the house. I started flyfishing late summer05 and started tying about 6months ago. I think I find tying just as enjoyable as using them. I primarily fish warmwater (southern IN) so bass and panfish are my targets. I am starting to get the hang of spinning deer hair and hope to get some tied by this spring for the early largemouth bite. I have figured out that I need a bigger/dedicated workspace and more storage for all the feathers and fur...the TV tray is started to feel the Squeeeeeze...Feel free to critique my latest ties...if you can see them...sorry for dark pics..
