Micropterus 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2006 Does anyone have any beginner tube fly patterns?
Blueman89 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2006 Any streamer. There are no true Tube Fly Patterns. All they are is a fly tied on a tube instead of a hook, so, almost any fly can be tied on a tube. That being said I'd start with a Woolly Bugger or Mickey Finn.

Al Beatty 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 Hi Micropterus, I'm with Jerry, a Woolly Bugger/Worm tube fly is very effective and darned easy to tie. Also, a Zonker strip wrapped around a tube is a really good/easy option. We fish a fly (developed by Bill Marts) for steelhead called the Snake. It is Zonker strips wrapped on a tube then put as many of those tubes on your leader as you can cast. I can usually handle about 8 inches of them with a #7 weight rod. They can really be awesome! Indyflycaster 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 Tube flies are not hard to tie, and as previously mentioned, almost any fly can be tied on a tube. But, spinning deer hair is quite a bit more difficult because the hair doesn't spin as well on the tube as it does on a hook shank. I haven't tried a clouser on a tube, but I'm sure it's doable Fish on!
