Dave G. 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2016 I fish trout in still water as well as moving water, salmon too. I fish for bass and pickerel in still water and small mouth sometimes in moving water. I mostly pinch down my hook barbs, doesn't seem to be an issue since I've been doing pinched barbs for about 15-20 years I suppose.. It all started just because I randomly pinched a hook down to try it and found out how much easier it was to unhook the fish. That lead to releasing land locked salmon without ever lifting them out of the water. Just reach down with hemostats and pluck the fly out, sweet ! Decisions 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2016 I prefer to pinch my barbs back on all my flies. It takes me too long to tie a fly and then have to take a pair of pliers to the fly to extract it out of a fishes mouth and discover that you damaged the fly. I don't like calling my flies "one fish wonders"! Cheers, Ron...
