JoeBillingsley 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2007 Very nice! Gotta love the spiders. I know you didn't mention it in your description, but did you also palmer something through the abdomen, or did the guard hairs just happen to come out very evenly spaced? Soft-hackle 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2007 Hi Joe, I believe it's the guard hair. Mark

Gig 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2007 I love your flies Soft Hackle. The 'Lil Dorothy' is still my favourite fly. Lovely tying as usual and an inspiration. Cheers from downunder Gig
Soft-hackle 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2007 Hi Gig, How's it going where you are? It's quite cold here, where I am. They are expecting wind chills of -19 degrees F. Nice to hear from you! Mark
KevCompton 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2007 Nice fly, Mark. Especially dig the mohawk guard hairs. (This may be in the recipe, but:) What thread do you use on your S-Hackles? KDC
Soft-hackle 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2007 Hi Kev, For years I used Dansville prewaxed 6/0. It still works quite well for my larger patterns. However most of my flies are now tied with Uni-Thread 8/0. The colors are pretty good, and they have floss to match. I've been thinking of trying some of the finer threads, too.
