VERN-O 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2007 thanks trout traveler I appreciate the comments. The photo was taken with a digital camera through the eye piece of a low powered microscope (7x magnification) Yes a whole hackle was used to hackle....I'm really on the fence whether to strip one sside of the stem or not. Soft-hackle 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2007 Hi Vern, I like the one with the orange thorax. This is more traditional in appearance. Nemes suggests a pinkish orange thorax, which is what I use. The Tups has become "indispensible" for me, and I've caught many trout on it. Yours looks as if it will do the same. Nice work! Mark

flytyer56 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2007 VERN-O or Soft-hackle one of you guys should put that one in the data base. Vern I like the looks of that one. Nice job.
Soft-hackle 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2007 I added my Tups pattern to the pattern database. It is a bit different from Vern's. Vern's is all dubbing, I believe. This one is from Nemes' selection. I have used silk buttonhole twist, which is what Leisenring used. Leisenring also used the blue dun hen. Nemes uses dyed Iron blue dun partridge. All of them work.
