uffepuffe 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2007 Well, this is a quite simple semi-realistic adult caddis pattern. A foam abdomen, a Tyvek wing and "crushed" elk hair "legs". I first started using this after seeing the Steve Thornton caddis in "Listen to the river". But instead of using Deer I chose Elk and also instead of doing a dubbing loop with the hair like Steve does I tie it in on the underside, some hair back and some hair to the front, and fold the foam back over it to secure placement. It sits deep in the surface film and it has work great for me when I have fished it very activly, letting it "walk" across the neck of a stream! On this photo the wing is rised slightly from how I normaly tie it to show the abdomen. This all brown along with one with a olive/green abdomen has worked best! uffepuffe 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2007 Thanks Mike! I do also tie it with a wing of 0.5 mm foam for those very fast flowing streams. Ulf
