Graham 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2007 Hey chrisfish, thats awesome bro. Before investing in alternative energy, make your house as energy efficient as possible, change out appliances for Energy Star rated products, incandescent bulbs replaced with fluorescents’, solar attic fan, etc. Get your consumption as low as possible and the cost to supply your needs with solar power will be significantly less costly. And fewer solar panels results in fewer bolts in your roof to secure the array. If you have an electric water heater, don’t supply that with solar electricity, install a solar water heater. That is a very cost effective tye of installation, likely will cost about $6k, but there is currently a 30% Federal Tax credit, and there may be local incentives as well in your state, which can be combined and makes the return on investment attractive.
