Vito1 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2007 I've lived in Michigan my whole life and never seen this insect before. It's wing covers looked like leaves. Does anyone know what it is?

Peterjay 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2007 Vito, you may not have seen a katydid before, but I'd bet you've heard them chirping at night. They raise such a ruckus here in the NY woods, that it's hard to hear yourself think at times. I usually leave the bug photography to the experts, but I happened across this one while I was testing a new lens. It's an immature specimen - the wings seem to be only partially developed. Hope you can see it, because it's a severe crop.
