Ladykiller 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2004 How about everyone submit a picture of their favorite pt variation on this thread. I'm looking for new ideas. I've got two that I use quite often and want to make the pattern even better. I'll post mine later.
Guest Report post Posted May 16, 2004 I really like this one http://www.myfishingpictures.com/showphoto...t=998&password= So the hackle is too heavy, except for fast water, use less according to need. Roy
16yearoldtyer 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2004 try a regular pt, but instead of peacock for the abdomen, use flame orange dubbing.
Philly 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2004 Wish I could post a picture. My variation is a soft hackle bead head PT. It's been working real well the last couple of years. Basic pheasant tail pattern though I tie them in olive, brown and natural. after wrapping the peacock herl thorax, I make two to three wraps of starling behind the bead head. Guest Report post Posted May 18, 2004 I tied one quite similar to Philly's last weekend. I weighted the body with lead wraps and didn't use the bead. That starling looks awesome.
Guest Report post Posted May 18, 2004 I like the starling too. I had a taker on the Holy Waters on a similar fly, black soft hackle tail, peacock herl body and starling soft hackle. It looks like an emerging nymph of the dark flies, i.e. dark hennies, mahoganies, etc.....
