Bend Trout Bum 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a good solvent to use in order to remove the coating on a section of my fly line without damaging the core?? Now don't worry I'm not going crazy...I'm just playing with some ideas on attaching the line to backing without the bulk of an Albright knot. Thanks Jeremy :headbang:
Futzer 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2008 Solvent, bad! take a foot long piece of small braided leader material. The kind you would dye to make Damsel fly bodies, and a right hand leather glove. Wrap the leader around the fly line one full turn, say about 2 " of fly line, holding the other side of the fly line in your left gloved hand, and yank it. It will peel like stripping wire. You can do a little more once you get used to it all. also heat it up a bit with a strong blow drier or heat gun. Not too much. Cheers Futzer.
