Here is a variation of what I'll be tying. I'm waiting on the materials from J Stockard so I used what I had on hand.

Size 16 Short Shank Nymph Hook ( I used an egg hook)

Black 6/0 thread

3/32 Silver Bead

Body: Silver Wire

Head: Peacock Herl

 

I never tied anything this small, I lost two beads in the attempt, one hit the floor and the other shot accross the room when I grabbed it with my tweezers. This was a practice run the actual nymphs will be tied with copper wire and copper beads.

body peacock herl

rib gold wire

hackle phesant rump

Love the Carey. Great pattern originated here in British Columbia in 1925and still regulary fished by stillwater anglers out here!!
