Floyd 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2010 Take a piece of mono and burn a small ball on the end. Tie mono on hook and part way down bend of hook. Tie on hackle for the tail. Cut foam about 1/4 inch wide and tie onto bottom of hook. As shown. Take some deer hair and stack to even tips. Hold hair by tips and cut to desired length. Place on top of hook and make couple of wraps and tighten. Move thread up shank of hook and tie around foam to form another segment. Take another bunch of deer hair and place on top of hook and tie down. Do this until you have covered the hook. Take mono and bring to front of hook and cut to length for the guard. Burn end to make small ball. This helps to keep mono from slipping out. Trim foam at back of hook.
