Bryan Wright 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2010 Ok so here is the question. My sone bought a David Wand rod witha martin reel attached. I don't know anything about this rod. I can't find anything on it to tell me what the weight is. How do I tell? This rod is real pretty it has hackle embeded in the laquer the raps look very nice. I don't know if it is a production rod or not. I did a search for David Wand Fly Rods and can't find anything. Maybe someone here knows something or somehwere else I can look. Thanks in advance. rich5665 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2010 Sounds like a custom rod. Try "Rod Builders Forum". Some one there may have a better idea. If the setup is correctly fitted, the Martin Reel may be marked with a line weight.
flyderaght 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2010 I picked up a custom build drift rod at a flea market once-30$ casted like a dream. don't think the guy knew he had a rod worth more than that. no markings. one of those nice finds. marc
gpd4 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2010 I usually mark the back side of the spool - just in case. Check there for line weight/style.
