Cover shank of hook with thread. Helps keep hair from spinning. Take deer hair and tie on tail.

Turn hook over and place back into vise. Wrap thread to front of hook leaving about 1/4 of hook shank clear.

Place hair on hook with couple of wraps and pull tight while holding onto the hair. Do not allow hair to spin. Cut hair. Move thread back of hair and place another bunch of hair on hook with a couple of wraps and pull tight.

Tie off thread and trim body to shape. Place back into vise and retie thread to hook. Tie on eyes at this time.

Take enough hair for wing and stack to even tips. Cut hair to length for wing and a little more for head of fly. Place hair on top of hook between eyes and body of fly with a couple of wraps and pull tight. This should form head without extra trimming.

This fly is named after my best friend and fishing buddy who died June 2, 2003. His name was Tom Poli
