Do you know what the mono loops do? I can't think of anything ...

 

That system works well. I have changed a few of my hoppers to do the same thing.

The double ended mono loop is to adjust the fly up and down the leader as needed for nymphing.

Hmm. That is an interesting idea (I think). I wonder if the fly would ride upright or be pulled on it's side or upside down by the leader.
