troutguy 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2012 Went to Wilson Creek again today. It was raining heavy on way and then it slowed down. GREAT day hardly any others fishing.

troutguy 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2012 Thanks. My friend caught almost all Brookies that day and a really nice 16 inch Rainbow and I caught all Rainbows. Neither of us got a Brown. Fo a lot of rain the water was relatively clear and not very high.
bluegill576 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2012 Never fished wilson creek, but fished many other rivers in NC. The Ararat is nice. They cleaned it up last fall and stocked it with trout and it was pretty good fishing through the winter, but the word in the bait fisherman community has gotten out about the river and there is almost always a poacher or two there. My favorite river in NC is the north toe river. It is mostly wild fish and there are some beautiful Appalachian brook trout there.

bluegill576 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2012 The spot I like to fish the most is in Avery County, but there is a really nice spot outside of spruce pine.
Bucket 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2012 I fished Harper Creek, which a tributary of Wilson Creek, last weekend...caught a few Wild Rainbows.
bluegill576 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2012 Nice fish! Even though the wild fish are usually smaller than stocked ones, they are a lot more fun to catch.
