certwelder 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2012 What are the must have patterns for Steelhead in Erie PA? I am already tying Crystal Meth, Sucker Spawn, Egg Sucking Leech, and Glowbug/ McFly Egg patterns.

schaef 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2012 Emerald shiner patterns are deadly early in the season. Don't forget about the simple wooly bugger either, olive and black seem to produce best in size 8. I usually swing them through the current when the water temps are above 40 but they can drifted also.
cussfly16 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2012 I am with Schaef, last year when a buddy and I went to Erie, we killed them on a small size 10 shiner pattern. They were demolishing it, like they were angry... I think that is why I love those fish! If I can I will post the fly on here for you to see....
