Foam poppers bodies and strike indicators

Recommended Posts

Hey Nick, thank you for your note. I hadn't thought of clothes hanger wire...good idea, there's plenty of that hanging around here.

For flytire: I haven't had much trouble [some though] with the foam spinning on the nail...there are nails with little ridges. A light touch on the sanding is all that's needed. Cheers, Ed

wouldnt the foam block just spin on the nail negating its purpose?

No, its not like a piece of wood on a lathe. It doesn't take much force to shape the foam, and it stays in place pretty good.

I don't use the system very much, since I ...

1) rarely worry about perfect shapes on my foam poppers and

2) don't like the resulting "hole" through the center of the shaped foam. I don't put the hook through there, so it's just an extra hole.

My poppers, lately, have all just been punched cylinders from flip flops and they work just fine.
