TroutRuleBassDrool 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 "Off the Wall" is kind of a vague description, but here are some things you could add to make it more "appealing" to fish (or to the tier). 1)Add a bead head 2)Add crystal flash (or any shiny material) to the marabou tail 3)Use color patterns which contrast each other (or ones which are alike) 4)Tie patterns with and without lead weight so you can have flies for different occasions. 5)For ants, look in "Tying Flies With Foam, Fur, and Feathers" by Harrison Steeves. He has some really nice patterns. Tie up some sinking patterns (Transpar-ant and Attract-ant), you can google them, or find them in Harry's book.
