  1. I use a white foam bodied dun or spinner. Using fur dubbing dosent seem to stay white. I also tie the tails in half a shank longer. Hope this helps. White wulffs in 10 and 12 work fine.
  2. I got mine. Some very nice flies. thank you OLB for hosting.
  3. Didn't get mine yet? I sent them a while ago. Im not far away. hope you get them.
  4. I can tie most trout drys in 3 minutes Spinners in under 2 basic nymphs under 2 everything else can usually be tied in under 4 minutes without rushing.

  8. I like the furled leaders for my dries, but I tie my own for streamers. I hate to use them in weeds because they always get scum on them in nasty water.
  9. Im suprised that I rarely see it in shops or mail order catalogs. It seems to be great. i can focus more on imitation and I don't have to worry about floatation as much. The scent goes away after awile so im not worried at all. thanks for the advice everyone
  10. Im going to guide also. Im going to wait untill I am at least 18. I am not just starting my own guiding business so I will have lots of help along with a established list of clients. I am going along on trips to learn right now. I would say that it is a good idea to wait untill you are older. Im sure that there are many clients out there that are not going to like taking advice from a someone young enough to be his or her son. Lots of good advive given by everyone. good luck with guiding
  11. I like tying the streamers it feels like im making something expensive like a rapala For fishing i love soft hackles
  12. I used the tyers grade cape(cheapest one) and got down to at least the 18's, but i bought another tyers grade cape and it has useable hackle down to the 20's
  13. Im going fishing on the 22nd so I will give it a shot. The scent seems to go away after a few days. Ill let you guys know how it works.
  14. i have found scotch guard to work great, but I haven't fished it yet. Does the scent bother the fish?
  15. Just checked the with the dnr. It would be okay for me to target bass or pike if i owned the entire shore line, but there are other houses on the lake so the rules must be followed.
  16. thanks shoe i will wait a till the opener. there are plenty of bluegill to catch.
  17. I hooked some this size on a 4wt 7'6 and never even came close to landing them. I doubt that i would run into the dnr skunk. im fishing like 30 yards from my house Ill figure out the season stuff. I am releasing the fish.
  18. thanks I can't wait to try it in canada. The water i fish there isn't deeper than 8 ft It should be fun
  19. thanks everyone Im going to play it safe and not fish for bass or pike untill the operners. Im going to ask the DNR and see what they say. Hope i can fish these guys are fun to catch
  20. I thought that when fishing private waters I don't have to follow the seasons? Am I wrong? Heres what i found on the dnr website A private lake is considered to be a lake where there are no inlets or outlets and all of the land surrounding the lake is privately owned, with no legal access for the public. If the lake you are fishing meets these requirements, then you do not need a fishing license. If I don't need a license then doI have to follow the seasons?
  21. I caught this guy just a little while ago. For those of you that a wondering I know the season hasn't started in MI. I live on a private lake and I was targeting pike anyway. He took a rainbow streamer in about 3ft of water. Good thing I had my 9wt.
  22. A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by Kid Tier: Joann Pike
  23. Try streamers like a finn or a bugger presented from up stream. Postion yourself above the fish and cast behind or to the side of the fish. good luck
  24. hard choice finn and bugger are both great.
  25. I tie most of my drys in a 14-18. I bought 2 saddles at a show for $25 each and I can't even find hackle for a size 12 on them. Saddles are a great way to go, but if you can buy them at a show because of the price.
