I'd like to try the River Road Creations (http://www.riverroadcreations.com/) foam body cutters out, specifically for cutting foam hopper bodies. Wondering what is the most useful, the Chernobyl body cutter or Beavertail? Any comments are greatly appreciated.

That's funny, because I just threw away the Wapsi water base head cement because it was rock solid.

I don't use very much head cement, but do like having it on my bench for occasional use. I'm tired of it drying up all the time. Any suggestions? Brands? Types? Thanks in advance.

As long as I remember, I've always crimped em in the vise. Just wondering what others do? It's a bit difficult with #22 and smaller and wonder if there are better options.

Headin the Northeast corner of Yellowstone in 10 days. Tying like mad. A little confused about Epeorus, is this the same as a Pink Lady? I've tied some Pink Lady Comparduns via Blue Ribbon Flies and the body is a very distinct Cinnamon. The Epeorus superfine dubbing I have is much more like a pale yellow (PMD). Any help is much appreciated.

Good point. Ginger is only available not Light Ginger in the 100's pack from J Stockard. Wondering if thats too dark.

Clarification. I am really wondering what size's you generally get with a saddle? I recently received a 1/4 Saddle that specifically is titled size #14 and smaller. Most of the feathers seem to be towards the size #20 size. I'm just wondering about a standard Whiting Saddle (not titled #14 and smaller).

What's the best way to go for size #14-#16 Yellow Sally (LIght Ginger). A cape or a saddle. I'm thinking a saddle but unsure. I can't think of another pattern at the moment I would use this color, so primarily interested in size's above. Thank you.

I've gotten by for years without a higher quality hair stacker. I've heard good things about Dr. Slick. They are available in small, medium and large. Just curious if one can get by with the medium or if it's worth it getting a small and a medium? I've always used a once size fits all in the past. I'd be stacking hair for everything from #6 Stimi's to #22 comparduns. Thanks in advance.

No, I have left it in a warm place, not in a plastic bag. I'll try and get that fat off with both of your suggestions though.

I have a Chukar skin that's had Borax on it for a month and there's still moisture. I have tried to remove all the fatty parts, but it appears there is still some that won't dry. Any tips on how to best remove these fatty parts without cutting into the feathers on the other side?

Crinkled Zelon is only available at Blue Ribbon. As someone else mentioned, Craig Mathews bought a container of the stuff in the 90's, I believe at a time it was also available thru Umpqua. I know from speaking to the folks up in West Yellowstone that there supply is running low and they have mentioned they are looking at some other materials as a replacement. They are very nice people and always helpful so if anyone has questions, I wouldn't hesitate to call. As far as I know, there are other brands of Z yarn and spinoffs available elsewhere. I don't find a great selection of colors of these other products but I'm sure they work fine.

I have almost every color of crinkled zelon from Blue Ribbon and find it outstanding to work with. Just last week I fished to rising trout with size 24 zelon midge (wing like a spinner) and it floated like a cork with minimal greasing. It is also a great material for shucks.

Thanks all for your input. I checked a saddle out the other day at one of my local shops, but going to order a pack with the individual feathers, which I know Blue Ribbon carries for about $8. Really looking forward to working with this material for my comparduns.

Do you find it easier to work with than Fibbets? SInce it's a natural material I'm only assuming it binds down on the shank easier than a synthetic fiber, thus creating less of a chance of rolling over. I'm only guessing here.

I have never worked with this material and curious how it compares to Mayfly tails or fibbets? Better substitute?
