If I teach someone anything - including fly tying or fishing - I never expect anything in return except maybe a "thank you." Just the gratification of knowing I have helped someone is enough. Of course, a hooker would be nice... wink.gif

 

But as for a gift...

 

Find out what he likes. If you want to give him something tangible, think about his "likes" and go from there. A bottle of good whiskey (Crown for me), a fine cigar, or even a framed fly you tied from his teachings with an inscription.

 

Or... a hooker... headbang.gif

Not sure what "trolling" is in this context, so therefore, it may be. However, I know that MY mentors would have LOOOOOOVED one of those items as a gift.
