siestafred 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 After much fiddling and diddling, I decided to go with the Thunder Creek Brown Trout. For one thing, I fish alot of Brownie water, and wanted some practise tying these. It's really my first attempt to tie this fly, so please forgive me if some of them come out a bit rough. fcflyguy 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 looks great !!!!!!!!!!!! is it made from buck tail :dunno: Fcflyguy
siestafred 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 Yup, bucktail. I have tons of it because I tie so many Clousers for Florida fishing, so it was nice to be able to tie up this pattern without having to buy anything new. Here's a brief recipe... Hook: Gamakatsu 32407 #6 Body: Gold mylar ribbed with gold wire Middle wing: Small bunch or red and black bucktail mixed Flash: Two strands of red and two of gold Overwing: Brown bucktail Underwing: Small bunch of yellow under the same of white bucktail Gills: Red thread Head: Two coats of Sally's (but I'm going to try a couple with 5 minute epoxy to see how they look.) siestafred 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 Here's a better looking one using one coat of epoxy.
