Guest Report post Posted March 23, 2006 Daryn, I have never fished the tan or olive version, but I think they should work. I have caught 75% of my smallies on the crayfish orange version( http://www.flytyingforum.com/index.php?act...36;s&showid=407 ) and decided to try something new this year. Redwings1 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2006 I however have had good luck with that color. It should definitely do the trick for you Will!
JoeFish 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2006 Will, most of the crayfish in my area are a real light color. I had alot of luck with foxee clousers and light rabbit crays last year Joe
day5 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2006 Color has to do with the diet and molting stage of a craw generaly a light color will be a craw that has molted recently and is very easy to eat!!! I normally tie a lighter color of the craws that I see. I like that fly alot nice tie Will
TerryLee 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2006 I've had success with a brown and a olive version of this fly. I've been thinking about a tan one for a while. Now that I've seen it, it's coming to a box near me soon.
Guest Report post Posted March 23, 2006 Yeah it looks like a craw halfway through its molt. I can't imagine a more vulnerable stage. That should rock!
Mandoyak 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2006 I tried a couple of these except I moved the tie-in spot for the rabbit strip claws a little farther up the hook shank toward the hook eye just to see what it looks like and added some rubber legs & deer hair for all the antannae stuff:
fly time 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2006 I like it looks like a fish catcher to me.
