Tree_Snagger 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 somewhere on here, i read a tip about making eye barbells from melting mono, and it worked like a charm. so then i tried this. i have room to trim back the wingtips, but for some reason, i like them long. deeky 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Are you fishing it? Have you tried dropping it in water yet? My concern with the hook up is that the fly will actually land upside down.
Tree_Snagger 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 no, haven't tried fishing it yet, and i'd say there's at least a 50% chance it will land upside down.
Slacker 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 That is a very nice tie! Â When you drop it in water can you let us know what way it ends up? Â Curiousity has been peaked....
Tree_Snagger 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 numerous tests have shown that it lands and stays on it's side.
chrisfish 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 Mayflies land (and sink) on their side and turned over most of the time. I think the upright ones are usualy strong enough to land on a branch. I like it. and its amazing that its a size 20!! I also like to tie "upside down" spinner patterns. it gives the natural upturn to the tail.
