fishable realistic stone fly nymphs

Recommended Posts

Good Day,

Thanks guys!

macs, yeah, nice article. hard to find a thin enough syringe in my area... I also like to use colored wires by UTC inside hollow tubing. The first photo is of a pteronarcys dorsata with the abdomen tied in this style. The others are latex abdomens.

Those are some tasty looking stones!

Some electronics stores sell fine gauge syringes, down to 22ga, but the sharp tips have been removed from the hollow needle, and they are often used for injecting glues, graphite, lubricant, heat absorbing compounds, and other substances. I posted a fly here a couple of years ago with oil injected into thin clear rib material and used a regular needle and syringe, but realized that the sharp tip is not necessary, and probably easier with it blunt, as long as it’s thin enough to fit in the tubing.

Ayway, nice flies, and I'm looking forward to some fish pics,

Graham
