cornmuse 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2007 Bob contributed a wonderful installment of Fly Box Porn to the FFO site featuring flies for this fish . Bob photographed all the flies and they came out superbly! :headbang: Also, every fly has its associated pattern listed. Check it out! Thanks Bob!!!! Fly Fish Ohio Here are a couple teasers: Joe C. CDG 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2007 With fall in full swing and winter attempting to take hold here in the PNW, those pictures sure make me miss long hot summer days.
letumgo 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 WOW!!! That is another outstanding article, Bob. I've learned a ton from each of your articles, and this is no exception. I am definitely adding those patterns to my bass box for next year. I really love the adaptation of the classic wet patterns into bass patterns. I think it would be a hoot to catch a bass on these beauties. Bob - Thanks for the inspiration. Joe - Thanks for posting the link. Great addition. madkasel 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2007 Wowsers. Impressive stuff, as usual. I really like the fly photographed with the hook stuck into a crack in an old piece of wood. Very nice!
bobpetti 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2007 That "old piece of wood" is the railing around my back deck, lol. Yeah - I know - it's in terrible need of a fresh coat of something. Just ask my wife. :hyst: I took those photos outside on a cloudy day, just to see how they looked compared to the standard indoor shots of a fly in a vise with a blue background and a couple surround lights. I think these shots are a bit too dark, but that could be my monitor. Another reason I went this way is because so many of the flies were tied with lead eyes where I wanted to make sure I took the photo showing the true orientation of the fly as it should be fished. A fly flipped upside down in a vise looks a little weird, but a fly "eyes down" on a board looks normal. Thanks for all the kind words, fellas. Some of those flies are purely flights of fancy, I will admit. Sometimes you do things just to break up the monotony of tying the same six flies over and over again. I figured it would be a hoot to hook a few bass on unlikely flies (or try to), even if a black rabbit strip leech will outfish just about everything else in the box on 9 days out of 10.
